Humanistic Co-Design of Assisitive Technology in the Developing World Course
Jan 2019 |
Though the Materials Science and Engineering Departments at MIT, Dr. Kyle Keane and I took a dozen MIT students to India for a 20 day, 12 credit course. Here, students worked with NGOs, universities, clinicians and people with disabilities to create low fidelity prototypes of assistive technology aimed at enhancing the independence of people with disabilities. We were extremely lucky to partner with IIT Delhi's AssisTech Lab, Indian Spinal Injuries Center, Project Prakash, V-shesh and L V Prasad.

Accessible Dynamic Scientific Graphics
Oct 2013
|
I was a contributor and content editor for the Accessible Dynamic Scientific Graphics Report. This project produced the the first set of best practices for making dynamic scientific graphics accessible to persons with severe visual impairments. To do this, we synthesized all related standards and research concerning describing visuals to the visually impaired. From that research, we created systematic protocols for describing dynamic scientific graphic to people with visual impairments.
